Summer Bucket List | July 18, 2020

Howdy friends. Anyone here know when bucket lists took off? I'm being serious. I don't remember my mom making a list of cool things to do over summer break when I was a kid. I bet her actual summer bucket list was to get us to just shut the GD door behind us because "we're not cooling the neighborhood kids!" These days, every blog mom in the universe has an annual one. I'm not poo-poo'ing it either -- I'm about to tell you completely unsolicited what my goals for this summer are - I'm just curious where the heck it came from.

I have two very ambitious goals for this summer that I'm a little embarrassed to say out loud because they currently feel as unachieveable as wanting to fly to the moon. I want to write a book and I'm going to take a crack at teaching Duke to read. Should be nuts -- because I've never done either of those things and they feel like really big accomplishments, but I guess you never know until you try, right?

But let's talk achievable things, because those are far more fun.

I think the national parks is in the bag, just depending on how quickly we move. We've got Tetons, Yellowstone, Zion and Glacier on the immediate agenda, so candidly, this one is a gimme. Same goes for the ice cream. Even Iowa can be an exciting pitstop if it comes with some ice cream.

I picked up Under the Dome a good handful of years ago at a garage sale and even though I'm a King fan, just haven't ever read it. Weird, you know? So it's packed and I'm going to dig in soon.

I've always wanted to try an Aperol spritz. Definitely not sure what's stopped me so far, but that's a hurdle I'm looking to jump this summer.

And for an actual challenge, I've been aiming to make a real go at this freelance thing and so I'd like to see my first article exchanged for some money in the next few months. Fingers crossed!
